State Director, Michigan Small Business Development Center
Keith has served as State Director of the Michigan Small Business Development Center since 2015, with the mission of enhancing Michigan’s economic wellbeing by providing counseling, training and research for new ventures, existing small businesses and advanced technology companies.
Prior to becoming MI-SBDC State Director, Keith embarked on several entrepreneurial endeavors that include serving as CEO of Ideomed, a care-team connected mobile health company with operations in Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor; president and co-owner of NuSoft Solutions; and CEO/co-founder of Sagestone Consulting. NuSoft and Sagestone built sophisticated technology solutions for various industries that include manufacturing, healthcare, education, finance and other sectors.
He has been a past Ernst & Young Michigan Entrepreneur of the Year, and the companies he has led have received various recognitions such as “Michigan 50 to Watch,” Microsoft’s national education solution of the year, Computer World’s outstanding life science solution and an Edison national award for online innovation.
Keith has also served on a range of for-profit, charitable non-profit and economic development organization boards over the years, and has testified before state subcommittees on technology business development and testimony before a U.S. congressional subcommittee on mobile health innovation.
He holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of Michigan and an M.S.I.S. from Strayer University.
Keith has also been an ultra marathon runner since his youth, with completion of over 200 marathon events in various corners of the state, nation and world over the years. He often makes the analogy of marathons to small business development, noting that each require patience, planning, push, passion and extreme persistence.
