Dhananjay Joshi (ordained Anagarika Jyotipala) was born in Akola, India and lived in Pune. On completing his Bachelors in Electronics and Telecommunications from College of Engineering, Pune, he pursued graduate studies in Mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. Brought up in a traditional Hindu Brahmin household, Dhananjay has spent more than 50 years practicing Vipassana and Zen Meditation with Buddhist Masters from India, Thailand and Korea. He co-founded the Chicago Meditation Center. He writes a weekly column on meditation practices in the Marathi newspaper “Lokmat”. He has spent last ten years working on providing end-of-life spiritual support resources to those in need. He has co-authored a book with Dr. Arun Jatkar titled “Making Friends With Death”.
